SEO quick wins: finding keywords in positions 4-20 and climbing on Google

Keywords between position 4 and 20 are your most underrated SEO asset. Here's how to find them with Search Console and grow organic traffic without new content.

SEO isn’t only about creating new content. Often the fastest gains hide in pages you already have, ranking just outside the top results. These are the so-called SEO quick wins.

Why positions 4-20 are gold

On Google, most clicks go to the top 3 results. A keyword in position 8 gets very little traffic, but it’s already “almost” on the first page or just inside it: small improvements are enough to push it to position 3-4 and multiply the clicks.

The advantage? You don’t have to start from scratch. The page is already indexed, Google already considers it relevant. You just need to give it the final push. That’s much faster than writing a new article and waiting months for it to rank.

How to find them in Search Console

Google Search Console has everything you need. The process:

  1. Go to Performance and enable the Average position and Impressions columns.
  2. Filter for queries with an average position between 4 and 20.
  3. Sort by descending impressions: at the top you’ll find queries with lots of visibility but an improvable position.
  4. Check the CTR: if it’s low relative to the position, there’s room just by optimizing the title and description.

These are your priorities: high potential, low effort.

What to do once you’ve found them

For each quick-win keyword:

  • Optimize the title tag: include the keyword and make it more clickable. Sometimes that alone earns positions and CTR.
  • Improve the meta description: not a direct ranking factor, but it raises CTR, which is one indirectly.
  • Strengthen the content: add a section that better matches search intent, an FAQ, updated data.
  • Add internal links to that page with relevant anchor text: it helps Google understand the topic and increases the page’s authority.
  • Check the intent: if the page doesn’t match what the user is looking for, no optimization will save it.

The monitoring problem

Finding quick wins once is easy. The hard part is doing it again every week and seeing whether your optimizations are working. Search Console is powerful but cumbersome, and you rarely open it next to your sales data.

With NothingSell you have organic KPIs, top queries and SEO quick wins right in the dashboard, alongside sales and advertising. And with the PrestaShop MCP you can ask the AI “Which keywords improved after the latest optimizations?” without opening anything.

In short

SEO quick wins are the most efficient way to grow on Google: you work on pages you already have, close to the finish line. Find them, optimize title and content, monitor the results.
